So today, we have been woken up to here the loss of The 9th Wonder if The World, Chyna.
The woman was a pioneer in the female division of WWE in the 90s to early 00s. She was the first woman to win the Intercontinetal Championship (a males single title) and the first female to enter the Royal Rumble match. All outstanding accomplishments in a time when female wrestlers were looked down upon and trapped in the stereotypical objectification of sexy females.
Chyna showed tons of versatility within her WWE career. She started of as the dominating, female bodyguard of DX, she had an empowering rivalry with Chris Jericho (my personal favourite), and showed the sweet and beautiful side to her accompanying Latino Heat, Eddie Guererro.
She was a women that was a familiar face in my childhood. Chyna displayed to young boys and girls a powerful image on female athletes that many had not have been exposed to.
All thoughts go out to the Laurer family.
