Top 10 Best South Park Episodes

Switching it up and writing about one of my favourite TV shows of all time. South Park.

I first watched South Park when I was 10/11 years old. I use to borrow my cousins tapes that he recorded and I would watch them in my room until one day I got caught by my mum, who royally bollocked me. However I still kept going. There is something intriguing at a young age of an adult cartoon. You don’t believe they exist and wonder ‘what do adults find funny about cartoons?’.

As I got older, I love the stupidity of the humour, and the simplicity of characters that build their own stories and characteristics as the show goes on. The main point that makes South Park great is the shows relevance to cultural topics around the world.

The turnover for one episode takes one week which keeps the show fresh and relevant. Some issues go over my head due to it’s American news topics. For example, season 20 goes over my head as it is based on the presidential election of 2016.

I am going to count down the greatest episodes in my opinion.

Hope you enjoy and let me know what you thin are the best episodes.

10: Terrance and Phillip in Not Without My Anus (Season 2, Episode 1)

We kick it off with the April fools joke of the decade. The start of season two was scheduled to reveal the cliffhanger of who Eric Cartman’s father was. Instead we got a Terrance and Phillip special.

Featuring returning characters such as Ugly Bob, Celion Dion and Scott, hilariously random episode that introduces the South Park viewers to their version of Canada.

9: ManBearPig (Season 10, Episode 6)

Season 10 sees the birth of Al Gore’s greatest rival, ManBearPig. Half bear, half manpig or half pig, half bearman…whatever.

The boys get roped in Al’s attention seeking creation of ManBearPig and end up going to  a cave-in where Cartman discovers treasure that he keeps secret.

8: Super Fun Time (Season 12, Episode 7)

Super Fun Time sees the class take a trip to a pioneer village where the actors are outrageously committed to their characters. Which ends up annoying the boys but possibly saving lives!

Super fun episode and I personal enjoy it, being an actor myself.  I have related this to attractions I have visited that end up annoying me.

7: Make Love, Not Warcraft (Season 10, Episode 8)

This episode is deemed the best among fans, Make Love, Not Warcraft is a classic episode that sees the worlds of Warcraft and South Park merge.

The boys set out to kill a top player is randomly eliminating players all over the globe. They train hard to battle with a little help from Randy Marsh.

Fun fact, Trey Parker originally hated this episode and was close to pulling it, deeming it wasen’t funny enough and it would ruin South Park’s legacy. Happily mistaken Trey.

6: Awesome- O (Season 8, Episode 5)

This episode focusing on the lovable Butters’ and his robot friend Awesome- O aka Eric Cartman. Eric is pranking Butters as his own personal robot. Eric receives the burn of the prank when he finds out Butters has a video of him playing Britney Spears in his back garden.

Eric decides to play along and retrieve the footage but can’t break character which results in situations like visiting Butters’ relatives, creating movie ideas and engaging in sexual activity which can only be described as…lame!

An episode that is bitterly sweet to see Cartman in pain which he usually dishes out to his friends.

5: Go God Go XII (Season 10, Episode 13)

Sequal to the first called Go God Go. The next episode starts with Eric in the future for freezing himself due to his lack of patience waiting for the Nintendo Wii. A moment every gamer can relate to. Eric tries to connect pack to his past self with the prank phone call toy but the really meaning for him being there is more than just a games console.

4: Butters’ Very Own Episode (Season 5, Episode 14)

Butters’ is up there with one of my favourite characters in the show. A loverly, little boy but his life is not so loverly.

Butters’ has many different characters including Inspector Butters. He is set the task to find out what his father has bought for his mother for her birthday. We find out that Butters’s dad is hiding in the closet which does not sit well for his mother.

Butters is a great character and one that you sympathise and cheer all the way through the show.

3: Casa Bonita (Season 7, Episode 11)

Possibly my favourite episode of South Park. Casa Bonita has a great mix of drama and humour along with some amazing gags.

For Kyle’s birthday, he is going to Casa Bonita in a week but Cartman is not invited and replaced by Butters. Casa Bonita being a themed restaurant/amusment park that is based on the actually Casa Bonita in Denver, Colorado.

Cartman pretends to Butters that he’s living in a zombie apocalypse to make Kyle take Cartman to his beloved Cast Bonita.

2: Good Times With Weapons (Season 8, Episode 1)

Coming up second is Good Times With Weapons. Different animation and a great following story. The boys end up buying ninja weapons from a fair so they can play ninjas properly. However, when fun leads to Kenny throwing his ninja star in butters’ eye, the boys have to decide whether to help Butters or be grounded by their parents.

I did not expect this coming with the ninja star, total shocker that changes the feel of the episode.

1: Scott Tenorman Must Die (Season 5, Episode 4)

A cruel episode based on Eric seeking revenge on sixth grader, Scott Tenorman, for selling him pubic hair. The is the last episode where Eric looses his innocence (or what was left of it) and seeker revenge to the extreme.

This episode had me shocked purely for how dark it becomes at the end. You understand how evil Eric is, which has been used throughout the seasons since then. Awfully brilliant episode.

Thank you for reading and see you soon.
